A full range of ultrasound options
Dating Ultrasound (less than 14 weeks gestation)
If you are less than 14 weeks pregnant at the time you begin prenatal care with Associates in Women's Health Care, you will receive a dating ultrasound at this time. You will partially undress and a vaginal exam may be performed, after which you'll discuss the results with your physician. To make sure you're comfortable, we advise you to only invite friends and family that you are comfortable undressing in front of.
20 Week Ultrasound
At approximately 20 weeks gestation, you will undergo an ultrasound to measure your baby's head, abdomen, and amniotic fluid. Your placenta, as well as your baby's umbilical cord, kidneys, bladder, hands, and feet will be assessed. You will be required to partially undress, so invite only those you feel comfortable with. If your fetus is in the proper position, you may discover your baby's gender, although it is important to acknowledge that sex determination is an educated guess. Your physician will discuss your results with you.
Ultrasound is a useful, non-invasive diagnostic tool for a wide variety of gynecologic issues. By viewing the reproductive organs in the pelvis, we can identify potential problems including uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, and more. Your physician will tell you if you need an ultrasound. During the procedure, you will partially undress and may need a vaginal exam. To ensure your comfort and privacy, bringing children to this type of exam is not appropriate.
